HAPPY NEW YEAR! September is the month of Back to School, Back to Routines and with it, Karen and Kelly are hoping that you will take the time to really put your behaviours (and those close to you) under the microscope. If September brings the annual feeling of starting fresh- a kind of new year that January can’t every really psychologically touch, then it is the perfect time to make sure that those routines or habits we commit (or recommit) ourselves to are healthy ones.
This month’s Sips of Sanity episodes are solely focused on identifying the varying types of verbal abuse that exist. Karen and Kelly are welcoming the magnificent author Patricia Evans to the show on this week’s episode of Coffee with the Sarlos to discuss her international bestselling book The Verbally Abusive Relationship. But in preparation for Saturday’s podcast the ladies are first breaking down the language of abuse so that the tools and discussions you will hear on Saturday can be easily followed. This week’s episodes are just bite-sized pieces of what is to come!
This first episode is all about introducing the first three kinds of verbal abuse which are Withholding, Countering and Discounting.
Remember that it’s doable to pause this show and digest information at your own pace. And that it’s definitely okay to cry in the process. These shows are meant to support you as much as they are to educate you. Tomorrow’s show will cover Verbal Abuse Disguised as Jokes, Blocking and Diverting and Accusing and Blaming.
